Hello, I recently had to RMA my OCZ Vertex2 SSD and replaced it with Intel 520 SSD. Got my system up and running just fine via a clean install, however one thing that I cannot solve (and don't recall how I solved it on the old system) relates to the subject card reader and recognition of SD cards. Checked Device Manager, etc. Everything seems fine. Have the latest BIOS for the ASUS Maximus IV rev 3 board, USB setting appear correct.

If I insert an SD card into the reader at boot time, once I get into Windows I can double click on the icon and the contents of the SD show up just fine. The moment I remove it and insert it again, try to open it I get the 'Please insert a disk into Removable Drive' message. I know I was able to find a solution to this before in the past, but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was.

It is rather annoying to have to reboot or at lease log off and back on every time you want to read your SD or CF card. Thank you for your help and I appreciate your ideas and suggestions, lisior. Hi Lisior, This can be caused by a defective Memory Card reader.

The error you are getting is ideally caused by drive letter conflicts and changing the drive letter should ideally take care of the issue. Also scan the disk using an Anti Virus program.

If you have an Antivirus program installed on your computer. Right click on the Secured data card and ‘Scan with Antivirus’ b. Then try to format it from the computer. Also try to use a different Memory card reader and check if you have the same issue. Note: Formatting the SD card needs to be done from a different computer, after taking the backup of the data.
