I have been all over google trying to figure this out. I tried intelliremote which worked but it broke the guide button on my remote. I found some posts about editing the registry, but there wasn't a guide to do exactly what I wanted so I didn't want to go changing values.

Bjork Vespertine Rar there. So what I am trying to do, is map a button on my HP MCE OEM remote that closes WMC. Alt+f4 is fine. This is mainly for the wife and kids as they are trying to get used to using the htpc only as I canceled dish. Is there someone out there that can help.

Maybe you know how to change the mapping for an insignificant button like 'print' and make it alt+f4? I would rather just edit the registry and be done with it then install an app but whatever. But thanks for the link I will give it a go. I don't think it's that easy. If it was, there would be tons of information on the 'net about it, and there would be no need for third party applications to intercept remote commands before MCE gets them. I've looked around a lot, and I've yet to find a registry hack that can redirect button presses.
