The ME906E is a LTE module with M.2 (NGFF) interface, supporting seven(!) LTE (FDD) B1/B2/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20, Penta-band DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/WCDMA for Europe/Asia network coverage. It has low power consumption, support for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS, GLONASS) and European carrier certifications enabling easier and more flexible design and integration into end devices. HP lt4112 GOBI 4G module does not work reliably. Especially during moving (eg. In train, bus) when handover between BTS occurs quickly one after another between various types of networks (LTE, 3G, 2G) the Gobi module simply fails to function after longer or shorter amount of time. It loses connection, resets itself, turns itself into Locked state (requiring entering PIN again) or even hangs in hard such way that even turning off and on in Windows Netowrk Settings panel doesn't help, even shutting down the computer does not help and the device must be powered off through removing battery from Zbook for a couple of seconds (this means of course opening back cover, removing battery for a while and then put it back).
This behaviour happens most probably due to poorly written drivers or with smaller probablity due to hardware malfunction or simply bad design of the module. I do not recommend anybody to buy HP products which are equipped by this module. HP constantly fails to produce high quality drivers for their products and its software is often buggy and not reliable. I can confirm this as well, we've had a fleet of HP Revolve G2 and then G3s for the past 3 years running Windows 7 ENT x64 and I have never been able to get these working consistantly! Although i've got the latest version of the driver 13.1803.5.1 Rev.A(1 Aug 2016) installed, when checking the device manager the main network adapter driver is dated, and the COM ports are dated! Maxblast 4 For Vista here. Don't know what HP have actually updated in the driver package in August 2016, but aparently not the drivers!!
Avoid the HP lt4112 Gobi 4G like the plague!
